Sam is passionate about games and has worked on numerous indie games as both a composer and sound designer, most notably Pest Whisperer which was awarded 2nd prize at The Big Indie Pitch and Barely There which was showcased at the Independent Games Festival. Coming from a background as a jazz musician, Sam has found parallels between live improvisation and writing music for games, which over the years has led him to develop a unique way of composing for games. Using the softwares Wwise and FMOD to fully embrace adaptive music and sound, Sam aims to create ever-evolving soundtracks which vary each time they are played, always within the same sonic world but with subtle differences, making the music feel at once both familiar and new. He has been influenced and inspired by other game composers using these techniques to great effect such as Joe Acheson (Creaks), Noboru Motuh (Tetris Effect) and Todd Baker (Alto’s Odyssey, Dreams).
